Well all I have to say is...
YES WE CAN and YES WE DID!!!
Barack Obama is the 44th President-Elect of the United States of America!!!!
Those of you who have watched my DA account on here, know that I have been a huge supporter of his, since the very beginning. I even spent the last weekend, canvassing in our local area for his presidential campaign, knocking door-to-door here in Milwaukee, WI.
I am proud to announce, that Wisconsin did go blue again once more. Along with so many other states that did also.
And the minute it was announced that he had indeed won....I cried, I smiled, I laughed, I called my 80 year old grandmother, who also voted for him today and my friend Tiffany who is also a big Obama supporter, who spent many hours volunteering for the campaign, even today on her vacation day.
This is an amazing day in our country's history...

As I write this I think about the democratic convention that I watched back in 2004, while on a business trip to Washington DC. I saw a man, unknown to most of america, give an amazing and moving speech, about how there were "no blue states or red states, but the united states of america." and as I sat there in my pjs, at the end of my hotel bed, I stared in awe and had this amazing feeling come over me...I just knew and felt in my heart, that I was watching a man addressing our country...a man who I just knew deep down, would be the future president of our great country.
That man was Barack Obama...and now, nothing has given me more pride or joy to see him named tonight as our next 44th president.
I know so many of you here in our country and around the world have been wishing, hoping, praying and fighting for the change we need in our country. May that change we so desperately need, be helmed by our country's new President-Elect, Barack Obama and by our new Vice-President-Elect, Joe Biden.
For tonight though, I eagerly await his victory speech, which I am sure will be amazing and that many of you, will watch also...but while I do so, my heart goes out to President-Elect Obama and his family, in the loss of his grandmother yesterday, who I am sure is smiling down upon him. And my heart goes out to my country, who as we all know faces many challenges ahead. I am rest assured that there is now a president-elect in place that can lead us forward into a new beginning, as we in turn work, each one of us, to help carry this country forward into a new dawn.
May unity, peace and democracy reign forevermore and may God and Goddess Bless the United States of America!!!
Abby

"Now, I say to you today my friends, even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream. I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal." ~
Martin Luther King Jr. Speech at Civil Rights March on Washington, August 28, 1963"This is America. We're a nation that's faced down war and depression; great challenges and great threats, and at each and every moment, we've risen to meet these challenges because we've never forgotten that fundamental truth, that here in this country, our destiny is not written for us. It's written by us. " ~
