Barack Obama - 44th President of the United States
Yep, that is Barack Obama and one of his many supporters, ain't she a cutie!
I have been a very long time supporter of Mr Obama and today was the first time I was able to hear and see him in person. Today is Labor day of course, and here in Milwaukee, Labor fest was occuring. One of my very great friends Tiffany, a ICU RN with the VA hospital and member of the nursing union, WFNHP here in Wisconsin, called me to let me know she had gotten tickets to see barack's speech here today at the Marcus Amphitheater. She said once she was offered the tickets, the first person she thought of to go with her, was me! YAY!
I have been a huge supporter, he has given to our Country a new hope for change and yes, I am voting for him, I even voted for him in the primary awhile back. I remember the first time I saw him speak while on a business trip to Washington DC, sitting in my hotel room, watching the 2004 democratic convention and just getting that knowing feeling that he would be our country's president someday. And thankfully, he is now in the position to do so.
And today, most of the members in the audience were various labor union members, but they also opened it up to the public, so the crowd was filled with non-union members also, such as myself. The speech he gave instead, did focus on the plight of those suffering through gustav and how our country can stand together and help those in need, how in times like these, we all can band together, not as politicians, republicans, independants or democrats, but as Americans, who help each other, for while it might not be us who need the help today, it could be us tomorrow in need. I am sure that you will be able to see the whole speech live, when the time comes online, so I urge you to give it a listen, since it will be much better then me trying to recap it for you. lol
I also want to add, that when I took these photos, I showed them to the baby's mom and grandparents. All I can remember was how happy the mom was when I showed it to her and the tears in her eyes. I have their contact information and will be sending copies to them. I hope that this photograph will be a memory that they will never forget. This was also a moment I will never forget either...thank god I took my camera!
Can you believe, the only thing I could think about when watching the democratic convention everyday last week, was that, I hope someday that I will be able to see him live and hear him speak...who knew that after thinking those very thoughts last Thursday, I would be seeing him 4 days later and have the opportunity to see his speech, take this photograph, among many others and most importantly, get the chance to shake his hand in person myself. I did! lol
Now my only other wish, as it has always been since he started running...Please let him win this election, so our country can have another new beginning.
*********************************************** Note: Since I believe in free speech, I will leave the comments on, I just ask that you respect my opinion as I respect yours and fully understand that my viewpoints do not have to be yours. Please remember that we are all human beings and deserve dignity respect and the right for our own beliefs and even if you do not plan on voting for him, that is your right also, as it is mine to choose to vote for him.
beautiful photo and wonderful capture of a great moment. if you didn't know who this was, the photos would still be just as touching.
wow. so, how close were you?
i didn't know he was going to be in milwaukee. interesting. guess the harley news was more "important"? not saying that it was BUT i thought his appearance would've been big news or gathered more attention. i live 30 minutes away and didn't know he was in town. was in milwaukee yesterday and today and didn't know it. maybe i wasn't listening, reading or watching the proper news outlets.

LOL, well thank you. Yeah I personally did not know the parents of the baby, but made sure to get their info, so they could have a copy.
Umm, I was probably about 2-3 feet away, fence in between, mushed in with other people. lol
Yeah, I know what you mean, usually I find out about appearances like this after the fact. I found out he was going to be in town on Saturday night when my friend called me about going. Shortly after that, because I did sign up on barackobama.com, I received a note that if I wanted tickets, I could get them. But since I was going with Tiffany on her extra ticket, I did not accept the invite. The worst part I think is that, like you said, I wish things like this were advertised better. It was open to the public, as long as you knew it was occuring, you could come down and get tickets for free. If I hear of any other news of him coming to town again, I will definitely let you know!
